About Us

My name is Karen and like most people that raise cats, my passion for them came at a very early age. I always had the dream of raising cats, and every other animal too. My parents told me I needed to marry a farmer so I could have all the animals that I wanted, and thankfully, that is how it worked out.

I got married and moved several miles from my small Kansas town, to the farm. (Here we raise wheat and milo, cattle, Boar goats, chickens and ducks. And you never know what other animal my kids will try to bring home.) Years passed and I knew it was time to start searching for the perfect cat breed for me. I did a lot of research and even went and visited a breeder just to see some of these cats in person. I was hooked.

Then one day in my searches of cat classifieds on the web, I came across two of the most beautiful flame point kittens, and at the end of the ad it read, “ Also selling my cattery and all of my adult cats”. They were CFA registered Himalayans. I said a quick prayer, well actually it was a really long one, then I emailed the lady, and that is when it all began. I bought her 10 Himalayan-Persian cats, and everything that she used with them. I jumped right in, as one of the cats even had a litter of one month old kittens. I had raised many kittens on our farm for 20 years, but these were my very own, purebred, CFA registered Himalayans. I was so excited. She helped me figure out all the paper work and gave me many helpful hints. I love every minute of it. Thank you Sherri for trusting me with all of your precious cats. I am so blessed to have them all in my life.

All of my original cats were doll faced or short faced. I have since retired several of the older adults and am buying back a few more from champion and grand champion lines. I now have a beautiful flat-faced, seal lynx point girl named Maggie and one of her kittens, which is a doll faced tortie lynx point, and will hopefully be adding a show quality male to the group soon also. I have learned a lot about purebred cats along the way, but will never stop searching to learn more. I went to my first cat show and fell in love with the beauty of the show cats, and the idea of showing a cat. I hope to be able to do that in the near future.

My dream here at Harvest Hill Himalayans is to raise happy, health kittens that will give you as much love and joy as we have received from them. I have mostly doll faced kittens, and will soon also have some more flat faced beauties. I treasure every kitten, and they are all played with and handled from the day that they are born. Most kittens are born in our bathroom, as it is our nursery. If the bathroom is already occupied by a cat family, then I use our office as a nursery. As soon as the kittens are all litter box trained, they have free run of the house. Kittens usually leave for their new homes when they are around 12 weeks of age. Each kittens is different, so timing will vary as I evaluate if a kitten is ready for it’s new home. My socialization crew consists of my 4 children aging from 5 to 17 years. The kittens will get handled and lugged around, they play in homemade tents, get Tonka truck rides, are wrapped up like a little baby and carried around,…….. and I give them tons of hugs and kisses. When they come to your house, I have done my best to make sure the switch will be as easy as possible and that they are ready for anything, but as we all know, each kitten is very different from the next and they all have their own personalities. Even though they are all raised the same, some will be very outgoing, others more laid back. Some will be go getters, some the class clown. Some will be the cuddle bugs that can’t get enough lap time, others will want to sit close by and watch you. I will try to describe each kitten as best as I can, so you can get a good match for your family. Above all, I want to know that each kitten that I sell is loved, respected, and taken care of for the rest of it’s life. Don’t be surprised if I ask you some questions about your household and the kind of home you can provide for a sweet, precious kitten. I Love all of my kittens and only want the best for them.

When each kitten leaves for it's new forever home, it will be up to date on shots, be wormed, litter box and scratching post trained, have a spay/neuter contract with health guarantee, health record, toys, Iams kitten food, and CFA registration papers will be provided when I have received proof of them being fixed. I will also be available to you if you have questions or need help or support with your new kitten.

Most of my kittens are sold as forever, loving pets. If you are interested in breeding rights, they are extra and are not available with all kittens. Email me first, and we will see what we can work out. Thanks for checking out my website, email me if you have any questions. Karen
